About Me
I have been many things to many people. I once told my story to some guys during a chat session . A few of the guys were amazed at all I have done. I did not think my life was so interesting.
During my adult life I have worked as:
1. A janitor
2. A gas station attendant (remember those). Someone actually pumped your gas, washed your windows, checked your oil, and put air in the tires.
3.A pipe fitter/welder/fabricator in the chemical industry.
4. A crew chief on Army helicopters during the Vietnam era. I always wanted to go to Vietnam, but never got the chance. I did two tours in Germany.
5. I changed my military specialty to communications and spent a few years in combat signal battalions.
6. A pilot and flight instructor. Yes, I actually tried to get into the aviation field but could not compete with all the military pilots getting out after Vietnam.
I was working, but could not make a living for my family, so I returned to what I knew, Computers.
Since leaving the military I have spent my career working in the Information technology field, working in the gas industry and health care.
Currently, I work as a Systems Analyst (A fancy term for a PC desktop technician). I am currently employed by M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
I have to say that this job has been the most rewarding job in my civilian career. Knowing that I am doing my part to Make Cancer History really feels good.
I have always had a knack for working with my hands. I have had many hobbies which last a few years, but wood is a medium I always return to. In March of 2005, I decided to make a larger commitment to the woodworking hobby. I built a dedicated wood shop and spend my time trying to learn as much as I can about this craft.
