Today, we do something a little unusual. We get to glue up some bent laminations to create decorative parts for the table support structure. The glue up consists 10 pieces of wood that are 1/8" thick by 1 1/2" wide and about 30" inches long. The glue up is done using Unibond 800 which is a urea formaldehyde. It is a two part epoxy consisting of 1 part powder to approx 10 parts liquid. This glue makes a great epoxy for bent laminations because there is virtually no spring back when pulling the lamination out of the form. Please use gloves and a dust mask when mixing this glue. Also, make sure you have plenty ventilation. The gases from the glue can be a problem. The glue is colored a light tan, therefore virtually invisible. There are no glue lines. After removing the lamination from the form, the outer edge needs to be cleaned up with something such as a scraper. After cleaning the outer edge, run the lamination thru a jointer keeping the clean edge against the fence. That will give two cleaned edges and they will be at 90 degrees. Next, run the lamination thru a planer to clean the next edge. The inner edge will need to be cleaned using a sander of some kind. I am fortunate that I have an oscillating spindle sander. When done, you should have a piece of wood that measures 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" x 30"...
