A desk for our bedroom
The bedroom-desk is a smaller version of a dining table I built a few months ago. I liked it so well, that I decided to shrink it down and build this project.
Construction of the table top is fairly straight forward. I am going to build an outer frame
from 3" wide mahogany. A rabbet will be cut around the interior of the frame to set the table
top into. After the interior of the table is secured, using a router,
I will rout a 1/4" wide by 1/8" deep groove around the table to place a band of purple heart.
The legs will require 6 bent laminations. Putting the leg assembly together will be done using
floating tenons. This means there will be a lot of mortises. To make the job easier I built a
jig that will allow cutting the mortises quick and easy. Once the bent laminations are
complete and cleaned up, I will have to use a couple jigsI built to make sure that when I
glue the bent lamination to the center upright, you will not be able to see a seam.

My Dream Workshop...My place of solace..My escape
This is it. My dream workshop. My place of solace.
My escape from all the estrogen. That's right. I have a wife, a mother, a daughter
and four granddaughters all on the same street. Sometimes, it is just too much to handle. I do have a son. He must be the smart one, because he lives across town.
When this all started I was considering buying a Harley, but decided on a workshop. The shop has been fun, but I believe the Harley would have
been cheaper. The shop grabbed my wallet and would not let go until I had filled the shop to the brim. The next time you are considering what size
shop you should build, double it. You will be glad you did.
