Insetting an inlay on a dining table.
This is my first video and my first inlay

This was my first attempt at insetting a table-inlay. It was also my first attempt at creating a video. For me, insetting this table inlay was an extremely nerve racking experience.

I had worked really hard to build this table and did not want a failure on my hands. My first concern was being able to use a knife to make multiple cuts to ouline the table-inlay patttern. Using the blue painter's tape left a great edge that I could see. It took 3 cuts around the pattern to get to what I felt was a deep enough cut. To make sure I would not go too deep I added a layer of blue painter's tape to the bottom of my router and left the blue tape in place on the table.
If I found I did not go deep enough, I could have removed a layer of tape and rerouted. Fortunately, I did not have that problem.

The only real problem I discovered was, that trying to use the chisel without a mallet was not the thing to do. With the mallet, I had much more control over the chisel.

Some may have thought the process was simple, and it was, but being the first time, and doing this to a project I had a lot of time in was nerve racking. But, it all worked out OK and looks good.
